What is Your Vision?

What is Your Vision?

Mission statements are arguably the most familiar aspect of a business plan. Entrepreneurs, artists, and even individuals seeking advancement in their careers all understand that you have to know what you are currently accomplishing and what you stand for. This understanding lends itself to the development of a mission statement. However, few are familiar with a vision statement and its importance.

While the mission statement addresses the current state of a company or individual, the vision statement addresses the future. Knowing where you want to go is just as important as knowing where you currently stand.

What is it that you want to accomplish in the next 12 to 24 months? Do you want your company to have expanded its product offerings? Do you plan on becoming a major contender in your industry? Will your business go from e-commerce to a brick and mortar? What does your next level of success look like? These are all considerations that need to be thought out when developing a complete vision statement.

You must know where you want to go in order to properly plan how you are going to get there. Your vision statement is your acknowledgement of your desired destination. Once you know where you want to go next, you can begin to plan how you are going to get there. It will be easier to set your goals when you allow your vision statement to be the driving force behind accomplishing them.
